Liz Bentley

Psychotherapist by day, Comedian by night


Liz Bentley, has worked for over 28 years as a psychotherapist, supervisor, lecturer and facilitator, in the NHS, community mental health services and at Goldsmiths.


She is a writer and comedian, performing shows at London Literature Festival, Freud Museum and in Edinburgh Fringe’s only swimming pool venue, to name but a few.


Liz was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis 32 years ago, she uses mind/body therapy and performing to manage the disease. She wrote her master’s degree on psychosomatics, exploring the split of mind/body psychotherapy.


Liz has published three poetry books and is editing a book for publication next year based on her blog ‘From Essex to London in 101 Boyfriends’.


Currently Liz works in private practice at her home in Peckham, she is clinical supervisor at Lewisham College, hosts ‘Perverse Verse’ a quarterly comedy/music night and her latest blog “Liz Bentley’s thoughts while waiting for the Tesco Delivery Man” is published on ‘Disability Arts Online’.
