Pelvic Health Physiotherapist


Sarah Macharg’s first career was as a classical singer. She trained at the Royal Northern College of Music and went on to perform in concerts and opera.


She has sung for most of the UKs major opera companies plus many choral societies, festivals, concert promoters in UK plus internationally in countries including in Germany, France, Switzerland and Israel. Deciding on a second career, she trained in physiotherapy at Kings College London.  


She began her journey to becoming a pelvic health specialist 5 years ago, whilst working at the Royal London Hospital (now Barts Health NHS Trust) as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist.  Subsequently she has completed masters level study in Women’s Health at Bradford University.  Consequently she is a full member of the UK-based professional network for Pelvic Obstetric and Gynaecological Physiotherapy (the POGP, affiliated to the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy).  She moved from the mixed ward-based and outpatient environment at Barts Health to a purely outpatient environment with Central London Community NHS Trust.  


Now she works in private practice where her caseload is predominantly outpatients though includes some post-operative ward-based follow-ups. She is passionate about helping women and men to overcome pelvic problems so that they can enjoy happy fulfilling lives without avoidable limitations.
